The Far Eye: Find It and Fix It

Name ____________________ Date __________

WHAT YOU WILL MAKE

Make a before-and-after repair pair with an explanation. Focus on the far eye.

Shared feature reference for Proportion
Shared feature reference. It may not show this task’s exact pose, accessory, or style. Use the teacher’s matching reference too.

Draw it step by step

Allow the far eye to appear narrower in a turned view.

  1. Read the common mistake below. Make a small trial that demonstrates that mistake, without labeling anyone’s appearance as wrong.
  2. Plan the head turn and centerline.
  3. Draw the near eye first.
  4. Observe how much of the far eye is visible and reduce it accordingly.
  5. Make a corrected version using the suggested repair. Add an arrow to the changed area and explain why it reads more clearly.

Watch out → Try this

Common drawing problem: Two equal front-facing eyes on a turned head

Repair: Measure visible width instead of copying the near eye.

Check your work: Can your partner identify the deliberate drawing repair without being told?

Materials: pencil, eraser, paper, and a mirror or teacher-approved reference. Optional black drawing pen; no painting required.
