Four-Panel Character Story — Grade 4
Make an original comic page using varied panels, expressions, and visual pacing using original-world rules, consistent design choices, critique, and documentation. Use the example for ideas, but choose your own subject, colors, arrangement, and details.

Study the example for possibilities, then close or cover it. Your work should make different choices.
What to do
- Make your own version of “Four-Panel Character Story”. Keep the subject in the title, but invent the design and story details.
- Your core skill today: Plan and revise a sequence after a partner explains what they see.
- Plan a beginning, a small problem, and an ending. Tell the story aloud before drawing.
- Make tiny panel sketches. Keep the character's identifying colors and features consistent in every panel.
- Draw the panels larger. Place speech or thought bubbles before filling the remaining space; leave them out if the pictures tell the story.
- Ask a partner to retell the story without help. Change one unclear panel, then finish the outlines and color.
- Name one change that made the result clearer. Label or dictate your name and title, share the work, and clean the tools.
My project: I am making an original comic page using varied panels, expressions, and visual pacing using original-world rules, consistent design choices, critique, and documentation. Draw or write your idea.
My choices: Circle or write the colors and materials you will use.
My plan: Draw the big shapes or main parts and show where they will go.
My first step: What will you make first?
Halfway check: What part needs to be added, moved, fixed, or made stronger?
Finish check: Are the main idea, important details, and connections complete?
Share: One choice I made was… One change I made was…
Skill evidence: Plan and revise a sequence after a partner explains what they see. Show your test and explain what you chose; speaking or dictation is welcome.
